As part of the Scouting Program, Cub Scouts can work on Religious Emblems. These emblems are available for most faiths, and information can be found on the BSA website.
Fore the Roman Catholic Religious Emblems, the Scout completes a workbook at home in the family setting. This is not a den activity.
When the Cub Sout completes either the Light of Christ ( Tiger/Wolf) or Parvuli Dei ( Bear/Webelos) workbook, there is a form at the back of the book that needs to be signed by the Den Leader, the Cubmaster as well as their Pastor ( or Director of Religious Eduation). That form is removed from the book, and sent to the Archdiocesan Representative for Scouting, Father Tom Philips. A check for $12.00 ( made out to the "Catholic Committee on Scouting" ) is included.
Father Tom then approves the application, it is sent to the office at the Catholic Center downtown, and they mail out the medal to the family.

If the family would like the medal blessed and presented at Scout Sunday, give the medal to the Scout Sunday coordinator before Mass.
Once the boy has earned a religious medal, he is entitled to have the "religious knot" on his uniform. From my understanding that is a knot that can be placed on his Boy Scout uniform as well.
